In Northern China they are often sold dipped in a sugar candy coating on a wooden skewer \u00a0much like toffee apples are \u00a0in Europe and are called\u00a0\u7cd6\u846b\u82a6 (tanghulu).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have been associated with various medicinal properties especially as a digestive aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commonly known as Snow Hawthorn \u00a0these red fruits which grow up to about 35 mm in diameter are now in season.
